I paint to discover.
Why I Paint
Wonder leads to curiosity.
Curiosity leads to discovery.
Discovery leads to another question.
That cycle is my life, and each painting is its visible record.

A Lifetime of Discovery

Past - Summa Health Collection
Selected works by Ibojka Friedman became part of the Summa Health Healing Arts Collection, where they contribute to an environment dedicated to healing, reflection, and human connection. This acquisition marked an important milestone in the public life of my work.

Present - Inside the Studio
Every painting begins with curiosity rather than certainty. Before the first gesture is made, hours—and often days or even weeks—are devoted to preparing colors, mixing materials, and expanding the possibilities available to the work.
Each painting is created during a single uninterrupted session, allowing the colors to interact, merge, and discover relationships unique to that moment. The finished work becomes the visible record of that unrepeatable event.

Future - The Friedman Museum
The Friedman Museum is the next chapter in a lifetime devoted to discovery. Conceived as a living institution, it will bring together art, architecture, medicine, education, and the shared human experience—creating a place where curiosity, reflection, and discovery can continue across generations.
A Living Surface
Every painting begins as a unique event of discovery in the studio, recorded through the interaction of color, gesture, and material. Working on a monumental scale with unstretched canvas, I create environments that invite viewers to move beyond observation into experience. Each encounter with the work begins another cycle of discovery, revealing new relationships through time, distance, light, and attention.
